Launch your future with a $1,000 scholarship
Are you a high school senior getting ready for what’s next—college, trade school, tech program, or another accredited path? As a River Valley Credit Union member, you can apply for a $1,000 scholarship to help you take that next step. Apply with a short essay or a 2-minute video—or submit both to double your chances.
Who can apply
- High school seniors who are members of River Valley Credit Union in good standing.
Deadlines & timeline
- Applications due: Friday, February 6, 2026
- Winners announced: Mid-March 2026.
Awards
- $1,000 each to the top 3 essay submissions and top 3 video submissions.
- Funds can be used at any accredited higher education program (college, university, trade or technical school).
How to apply
Choose one (or both!) of the options below, then complete and submit the application.
Option A — Essay (≤ 250 words)
Prompt: How does being a member of River Valley Credit Union benefit you and your future?
Option B — Video (≤ 2 minutes)
Prompt: Why is a credit union better than a bank? Post on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube and include the link with your application.

Selection & notification
A panel of judges will carefully review all entries. Winners will be selected and notified by mid-March.
How scholarship funds are paid
Scholarship funds are issued after winners provide a receipt for education-related expenses. Funds are issued directly to the student.

Can I apply if I’m going to trade or technical school?
Yes! The scholarship can be used toward any accredited higher education program.
Can I submit both an essay and a video?
Yes—you’re welcome to submit both to increase your chances.
What if my video is on social media?
Perfect. Just include the public link (Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube) in your application.
When will I hear back?
Winners are announced by mid-March.
